Most people have never even heard of this aircraft Most people have never even heard of this aircraft... and that’s exactly what makes it legendary.

Built to chase down German V-1 “Buzz Bombs” and counter the fearsome Me 262 jet fighter, the YP-47M was one of the fastest piston-engine fighters of WWII. But with only a handful ever produced and the war ending shortly after, it almost disappeared from history.

Today, the ONLY flying YP-47M left on Earth lives at Yanks Air Museum in Chino, California.
Even more incredible? This aircraft was later raced by famed pilot Bill Odom as the “Reynolds Bombshell,” adding another chapter to its remarkable story.

✈️ Have you ever seen a YP-47M in person?

Don't forget! Our contest continues this week. If Don't forget! Our contest continues this week. If you want to have a say in the new nose art for our freshly restored Norseman, email your art to casey@yanksair.org, and we'll put our fave 3 back up here for everyone to vote on.*

We've heard a lot of brilliant ideas from many fans who seem hesitant to try their hand at drawing, painting, or graphic design themselves, and we cannot recommend enough bringing those brilliant ideas to an artist who takes commissions. We want to see what's in your head come to life too!

Remember, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to have a say in a museum exhibit for years to come. Plus, this is now one of our fully operational restorations too, where your vision can come to life in the sky.

🎨 Tag your favorite artist friend in the comments! 😉
